ORDINANCE NO. l041(CCS) (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1976 FOR THE GENERAL CITY AND FOR THE PARKING AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. For the purpose of raising the sums of money necessary to be raised by taxation upOn the taxable property of the City of Santa Monica as a revenue to carryon the various departments of said City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1976, the rates of taxes for the City of Santa Monica hereby are fixed and taxes are hereby levied on all taxable property in said City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1976, in the number of cents upon each One Hundred Dollars of assessed value of property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, and for the several funds and purposes set forth in the following table. The taxes levied upon property in said City hereinafter described and designated as District Number I are at the rates set opposite the designations of the respective funds. District Number 1: All that portion of the City of Santa Monica included within the boundaries of the corporate 1 imits of said City. For the purpose of raising the sums of money necessary to be raised by an ad valorem tax upon al J of the land and Improvements (but excluding personal property) in the Parking and Business I~provement Area in addition to the taxes levied in Taxation District Number 1, a tax is levied at the rate of $2.25 upon each $100.00 of assessed value of the property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Said Parking and Business Improvement Area has an assessed valuaiton of $ 12,233,550 and is described as follows: "Bounded on the northeasterly side by the center line of 4th Court, the southeasterly side by the center line of Broadway, the southwesterly side by the center line of 1st Court, and the northwesterly side by the center of Wilshire Boulevard, all in the City of Santa Monica." SECTION 3. If any section, sYbsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitut- ional by a decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each section, subsection. clause or phrase hereof, irrespective of the fact that anyone or more sections, subsections. sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be published once intheofficial newspaper within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption pursuant to Section 619 of the Charter of the City of Santa MOnica. -2- . .
