AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REPEALING
~3208 OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL
CODE AND ADDING ~~3208{a) TO AUTHORIZE
THE DESIGNATION OF PARKING PLACES FOR
MOTORCYCLES IN MUNICIPAL PARKING
FACILITIES, 3208(b) AUTHORIZING THE
SETTING OF FEES FOR ili~NUAL USE, AND
3208(c) PROHIBITING THE PARKING OR
DRIVING OF SUCH VEHICLES IN UNAUTHORIZED
AREAS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. ~3208 of the Santa Monica Mun~c~pal Code
~s hereby repealed ~n its ent~rety.
SECTION 2. ~3208{a), (b), (el are hereby added to
the Santa ~~on~ca Municipal Code to read as follows:
Sect~on 3208(a). Designation of Motorcycle
Parking Areas.
l. The Park~ng & Traffic Eng~neer, ~n confor-
m~ty wlth appl~cable rules and regulatlons shall deslgnate
speciflc areas on the flrst floor of the Central Business
Distrlet park~ng structures for the park~ng of motorcycles,
rootor-driven cycles, go-karts, or motor scooters.
2. The Director of Parks & Recreation, ~n
conformity with applicable rules and regulations shall
designate spec~f~ed areas for the use of such veh~cles ~n
beach park~ng fac~l~ties.
Sect~on 3208(b). setting of Annual Rates. Annual
park~ng fees for reserved-use of such specifled areas shall be
adopted in conform~ty with ex~stlng city regulatlons,and sa~d
regulat~ons flaY be amended from t~me to t~me by resolut~Dn of
the C~ty Counc~l.

ted Areas Prohib~ted. It shall be unlawful for any person
to park or dr~ve a motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, go-kart,
or motor scooter on any area of any public park~ng lot except
as author~zed by th~s sectlon.
SECTION 3. Any provis~ons of the Santa Monlca Munic~pal
Code, or append~ces thereto inconsistent herewith, to the
extent of such inconsistencies and no further, are hereby
repealed or modified to that extent necessary to effect the
provis~ons of th~s ordinance.
SECTION 4. If any sect~on, subsect~on, sentence,
clause or phrase of thlS ordinance is for any reason held
to be inval~d or unconstitutional by a declsion of any court
of competent jurlsdictlon, such declsion shall not affect
the validlty of the remainlng portlons of the ordinance.
The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed
th~s ord~nance and each and every section, subsect~on, sentence,
clause or phrase not declared invalid or unconstltutlonal
wlthout regard to whether any portlon of the ordinance would
be subsequently declared lnvalld or unconst~tutlonal.
SECTION 5. The Mayor shall slgn and the Clty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be publlshed once in the
official newspaper withln fifteen (15) days after its
adoption. The ord~nance shall become effectlve after thirty
(30) days from lts adopt~on.
