ORDINANCE NO. 1022 (CCS)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CREATING A
HOUSING COMMISSION.
THE CITY com~CIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created, in the City of
Santa Monica, a Housing Commission. Said Commission is created
pursuant to Section 34291 of the Health and Safety Code of the
State of Californi.a and Section 1000 of the Santa t10nica City
Charter.
SECTION 2. The Housing Commission shall consist of
seven (7) members to be appointed by the City Council. Each
member shall serve for a term of four (4) years and until his
or her respected successor is appointed and qualified. The
members of the Housing Commission shall be subject to removal
by motion of the City Council adopted by at least five (5)
affirmative votes.
SECTION 3. To be eligible for appointment as a member
of the Housing COIlli"11ission, each appointee shall be a resident of
the City of Santa Monica and hold no other office or employment
with said City.
SECTION 4. The powers, duties and functions of the
Housing Commission shall be established by resolution of the
City Council.
SECTION 5. If any section, subsection, sentence 1
clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of

competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City
Council hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance
and each section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase hereof,
irrespective of the fact that anyone or more sections, sub-
sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 6. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance.
The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once in the official
newspaper within 15 days after its adoption. The ordinance shall
become effective after 30 days from its adoption.
