ORDINANCE NO. 1008 (CCS)
(CITY COtmCIL SERIES)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA FIXING THE RATES
OF TAXES AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1975 FOR THE GENERAL
CITY AND FOR THE PARKING AND BUSINESS IM-
PROVEMENT AREA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Sk~TA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
For the purpose of raising the sums of
money necessary to be ra~sed by taxatlon upon the taxable
property of the City of Santa Monlca as a revenue to carryon
the varlOUS departments of said City for the f~scal year beg~n-
ning July 1, 1975, the rates of taxes for the City of Santa
Monlca hereby are fixed and taxes are hereby lev~ed on all
taxable property ln sald Clty for the flscal year beginning
July 1, 1975, in the number of cents upon each One Hundred
Dollars of assessed value of property as assessed by the County
Assessor and equallzed by the Board of Supervlsors of the County
of Los Angeles, and for the several funds and purposes set forth
~n the following table. The taxes lev~ed upon property in said
C~ty hereinafter described and deslgnated as Distrlct Number 1
are at the rates set Opposlte the designatlons of the respective
funds.
Dlstrlct Number 1:
All that portlon of the C~ty of
Santa Monica included wlth~n the boundaries of the corporate
lim~ts of said City.

SECTION 2. For the purpose of raislng the sums of
money necessary to be raised by an ad valorem tax upon all of
the land and l.mprovements (but excludlng personal property) ln
the Parking and Business Improvement Area in addltlon to the taxes
levled in Taxatlon District Number I, a tax 15 levled at the
rate of $2.25 upon each $100.00 of assessed value of the property
as assessed by the County Assessor and equallzed by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Said Parklng and
Bus~ness Improvement Area has an assessed valuatlon of $8,149/050.
and is descrlbed as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly s1-de by
the center line of 4th Court, the south-
easterly side by the center line of Broad-
way, the southwesterly Sloe by the center
line of 1st Court, and the northwesterly
slde by the center of Wilshire Boulevard,
all 1.n the City of Santa Monica."
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsectlon, sentence,
clause or phrase of thlS ordinance is for any reason held to be
inval1.d or unconst~tutional by a dec1.sion of any court of

competent jurisdict10n, such dec1sion shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City
Council hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance
and each section, subsection, clause or phrase hereof, irrespec-
t1ve of the fact that anyone or more sections, subsections,
sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitu-
tional.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall s1gn and the C~ty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ord1nance, The C1ty Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once in the official
newspaper within fifteen (15) days after its adopt1on. This
ord1nance shall take effect upon adoption pursuant to Sect10n 619
of the Charter of the C1ty of Santa Monica.
