AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COm~CIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING
A MORA'l'ORIUr1 ON THE CONSTRUCTION,
ERECTION OR DEVELOPMENT AND THE
APPROVAL OF ANY CONDOMINIUM IN R-l
AND R-1A ZONES WITHIN 'l'HE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIO;>;! 1.
A morator~uo ~s hereby placed on the
construction, erection or development of and the approval of
an appl1cat~on for any condominium ~n R-l and R-IA zones
w~thln the C~ty of Santa Monlca as described in the Santa
Mon~ca Hun~c~pal Code.
SECTION 2.
This Council finds and determlnes
that sald moratorium must be placed 1n order to preserve the
character of R-l and R-IA zoned ne~ghborhood5 pend~ng a
dec~s~on by the Clty Councll, after rev~ew by the P1annlng
Comrn~ssion and the holding of public hear1ngs, determining
whether condominiums should be prohibited ln the R-l and R-IA
zones.
SECTION 3.
The Planning Comm~ss~on is hereby
ordered not to grant approval to any appl~cat~on for a
condoIDlnlUffi ln the aforesaid area durlng the effectlve per~od
of this ord~nance, to Wlt: unt~l December 11, 1975.
SECTION 4.
Any prov1slon of the Santa Mon~ca
Munlclpal Code or appendlces thereto inconslstent herew~th,
to the extent of such lnconslstenc1es and no further, 1S
hereby suspended for the area descrlbed here1n during the
moratorlUffi perlod.

SECTION \).
The Mayor shall s~gn and the C~ty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of th~s ordlnance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once in the official
newspaper within fifteen (15) days after ~ts adopt10n. Th~s
ord~nance shall become effective after th1rty (30) days from 1tS
adopt1on.
