R-9514 f:\atty\muni\laws\ City Council Meeting May 23,2000 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 9514 (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING PARKING METER RATES AND PROHIBITING PERMIT USE IN BEACH PARKING FACILITIES POSTED FOR TIME-LIMITED PARKING WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica would like to improve access to beach parking and circulation on the streets adjacent to the beach by establishing short-term parking on some beach lots, and WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica would like to ensure that the short-term spaces are available for short-term parking and not occupied by vehicles parked subject to any permit, and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica would like to equalize the cost of short-term parking between on and off street spaces in the coastal area adjacent to the beach, and, WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica is authorized to set rates for parking at various parking meter zones by resolution, and 1 WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica is empowered to establish locations and time limits where various beach parking permits may be used by resolution, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AND PROCLAIM AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The following parking meter fees shall be established: Parking Meter Zone "A" $0.50 per hour Parking Meter Zone "B" $0.35 per hour Parking Meter Zone "C" $0.50 per hour Parking Meter Zone "F" $1.00 per hour SECTION 2. Beach parking permits, with the exception of residential parking permits, shall not be valid in any beach parking lot posted by the Department of Planning and Community Development as a time-limit parking lot. SECTION 3. This resolution shall not be effective until such time as appropriate signs notifying the public of the provisions herein have been posted by the Department of Planning and Community Development. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
