R-9564 RESOLUTION NUMBER 9564 (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING CONTINUED NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN SAINT JOHN'S HEALTH CENTER AND BLUE CROSS OF CALIFORNIA AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS TOWARDS A SUCCESSFUL RESOLUTION AND RENEWED COMPREHENSIVE HOSPITAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN SAINT JOHN'S HEALTH CENTER AND BLUE CROSS OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is home to Saint John's Health Center; and WHEREAS, Saint John's Health Center is renown for its high quality physicians and services; and WHEREAS, thousands of Santa Monica residents, visitors, and employees receive medical care at Saint John's Health Center; and WHEREAS, a significant percentage of those receiving care at Saint John's Health Center do so through insurance coverage from Blue Cross of California; and WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Contracting Hospital Agreement between Saint John's Health Center and Blue Cross of California has been terminated; and WHEREAS, the termination of the Comprehensive Contracting Hospital Agreement between Saint John's Health Center and Blue Cross of California may preclude Santa Monica residents, visitors, and employees from utilizing Saint John's Health Center for their medical needs, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Santa Monica City Council supports continued negotiations between Saint John's Health Center and Blue Cross of California and advocacy efforts towards a successful resolution and renewed Comprehensive Contracting Hospital Agreement between Saint John's Health Center and Blue Cross of California. Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
