RESOLUTION NO. 7718 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE
HOLDING OF A RUNNING RACE ON DECEMBER 2,
1988, ON A ROUTE OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL
CITY ROUTES AND WAIVING THE $10,000 RACE FEE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 15 of Resolution Number 6688 (CCS), the
City Council may authorize a race route different from the official City race
routes set forth therein,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. On December 10, 1988, between the hours of 7:30 am and
11:00 am, participants in the Venice-Marina Christmas Run may and are hereby
authorized to conduct a running race along the following route:
The race will finish in Santa Monica beginning at the southernmost
City 1 imits and wi 11 proceed north on Neil son Way to Barnard Way,
west on Barnard Way to race finish directly south of the 2600 beach
parking lot entrance using the western traffic lanes.
SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the running race is granted upon
the following conditions:
A. Venice-Marina Christmas Run will pay for and post all signage
approved by the City along the race route.
B. Venice-Marina Christmas Run will send a notice in a form
approved by the City to all residents north of Ocean Park Boulevard,
west of Neilson Way and south of Pico Boulevard, and all residents
one block Eo ,t and west or north and souU. as well as along the
race route, of the event and of alternative traffic routes, by first
class mailing.
C. The Santa Monica Police Department will provide the necessary
number of police officers for crowd and traffic control along the
race route and the approximate Three Hundred and Seventy-Seven
Dollars ($377) cost will be paid for by the Venice-Marina Christmas
Run.
D. All barricade and cone rental for marking the course will be
paid for by the Venice-Marina Christmas Run.
E. Venice-Marina Christmas Run shall provide a certificate of
insurance for One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) per individual
incident, naming the City of Santa Monica as an additional insured.
F. Venice-Marina Christmas Run will clean up and remove all signage
along the route after the race.
G. Venice-Marina Christmas Run is exempted from paying the $10,000
race fee.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
