A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
CO~1ENDING JOHN W. McCLOSKEY FOR
HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
CITY OF SM~TA MONICA
WHEREAS, JOHN ~v. r-1cCLOSKEY was first elected to
serve on the City Council of the City of Santa Monica in
1969 and served for a four year term; and,
WHEREAS, JOHN W. McCLOSKEY was re-elected to the
City Council of the City of Santa Monica in 1973 and has
served for a four year term; and,
WHEREAS, JOHN W. McCLOSKEY is retiring from the
City Council of the City of Santa Monica; and,
WHEREAS, JOHN ~'V. McCLOSKEY has been a resident of
this City for 37 years and has contributed to the City as a
Board Member of Friends of Santa Monica Mountains Park, as a
delegate to the California League of Cities, as a delegate to
the Los Angeles County Land Use and Environmental Quality
Committees, as a delegate to the Federal Aid Urban Policy
Committee, as a delegate to the independent cities of Los
Angeles County, and as a delegate to the National League of
Cities; and,
WHEREAS, JOHN W. McCLOSKEY has participated in the
preparation of a Real Estate Economics Textbook for use in the
State Community Colleges, including Santa Monica Community
College; and,
mIEREAS, JOHN i'~. McCLOSKEY has devoted himself, his
time, and his energies to serving the City of Santa Monica and
has set aside his own personal business to participate in such
distinguished community service.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of

Santa Monica does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1.
JOHN W. McCLOSKEY has given unselfishly
of himself and of his time, and he is hereby commended for his
many services to this community.
SECTION 2.
The City Council of the City of Santa
Monica, on behalf of itself and on behalf of the citizens of
this community, expresses its profounded appreciation to JOHN
W. McCLOSKEY for his many contributions to the City of Santa
Monica and to its government.
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk is directed to send a
certified copy of this resolution to JOHN W. McCLOSKEY.
SECTION 4.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
