A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING A FIRE
TURNOUT SUIT TO BE SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY AND
AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF THE SUIT TO
LOCAL 1109 IAFF
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has an obsolete fire turnout suit which has been
replaced; and
WHEREAS, the obsolete suit cannot be used for its intended purpose because it
does not comply with current Cal-OSHA standards; and
WHEREAS, the obsolete suit is no longer needed or useable for any Fire
Department purpose or any other public purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City's Purchasing Agent has determined that this fire turnout suit
cannot be sold or given to anyone who might use it for its intended purpose because it
is not compliant with current Cal-OSHA standards; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department wishes to donate the suit to Local 1109 IAFF,
who will remove any and all City identification and use it only for union safety
campaigns and publicity purposes.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Fire Department is hereby authorized to donate the
noncompliant fire turnout suit to Local 1109 IAFF, provided all City identification
is removed.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
