R-9989 F:\CCSADMN\SHARE\ARTS\smithsonian murals\CCHE Grant Reso.doc Council Meeting: October 26,2004 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NO. 9989 (CCS) A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Santa Monica Approving the Application for the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) for the Conservation of the Stanton MacDonald Wright Mural Series Entitled, " Technical and Imaginative Pursuits of Early Man", Including Installation at the New Santa Monica Public Library, Under the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002 WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002, which provides funds to the State of California for the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the Grant Program, setting up necessary procedures; and WHEREAS, these procedures require the Grant Applicant to certify by resolution the approval of an application to the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE); and WHEREAS, if the Grant Applicant is awarded a grant, the Grant Applicant will enter into a Grant Agreement with the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) for the Project; NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1 SECTION 1. The Santa Monica City Council hereby approves the filing of an application for grant funds from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment under the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks and Coastal Protection Act of 2002 for the conservation of the Stanton Macdonald Wright mural series entitled, "Technical and Imaginative Pursuits of Early Man," and installation at the new Santa Monica Public Library. SECTION 2. The Santa Monica City Council hereby certifies that the City of Santa Monica will have sufficient funds to maintain the Project, and where applicable, to complete the project. SECTION 3. The Santa Monica City Council has reviewed, understands and agrees to the General Provisions contained in the Grant Agreement. SECTION 4. The Santa Monica City Council appoints the City Manager as agent to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to Applications, Agreements, and payment requests which may be necessary for completion of Project. SECTION 5.
