A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING FEES FOR USE OF TRAFFIC
DATABASE
WHEREAS, traffic data must be used in environmental review documents; and
WHEREAS, such data is collected and updated by the City and provided at cost
to project applicants to facilitate the preparation of environmental documents; and
WHEREAS, the cost of updating the database includes counting volumes at
signalized intersections, incorporating count data into the database and developing
existing and future traffic scenarios, and management of the counting and database
update; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the present traffic data update is $120,000 and that cost
will be incurred over two years; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that about 16 applicants will require the use of the
data over two years, including applicants whose proposed projects require

environmental review through the preparation of Environmental Impact Reports,
Negative Declarations or Class 32 exemptions; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the traffic data update should be borne by those who use
the data to seek project approvals,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The following fee for the use of the traffic database IS hereby
established:
Use of base data for traffic studies: $7,500 per project
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
