A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING IN CONCEPT THE WESTSIDE
MOBILITY STUDY INITIATED BY THE WESTSIDE CITIES
INCLUDING BEVERLY HILLS, CULVER CITY,
SANTA MONICA, WEST HOLLYWOOD
WHEREAS, the Westside Cities of Beverly Hills, Culver City, Santa
Monica and West Hollywood have developed, funded and directed the Westside
Mobility Study;
WHEREAS, the study represents a subregional, inter-jurisdictional approach to
transportation planning that recognizes the importance of coordination of goals and
strategies to address issues of regional importance; and
WHEREAS, the cooperation of all 4 cities the study is intended to provide greater
insight into the travel behavior and potential solutions than any individual city's
transportation staff has or would have been able to acquire on its own; and
WHEREAS, the Westside Cities strongly support the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority (MT A) in efforts to stop the erosion of funding sources and develop new
sources of financing to continue and expand the multimodal transportation system; and
WHEREAS, the Westside Mobility Study represents a major cooperative effort
among the cities to forge consensus on policies, programs and projects of regional
significance; and
WHEREAS, the Council of Government (COG) structure will provide a forum for
discussion and communication as well as representation on behalf of the subregion
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION
Mobility Study.
The City Council hereby conceptually approves the Wests ide
SECTION 2 The City Council supports advocacy of the Westside Cities'
transportation needs.
SECTION 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
