RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A GRANT CONTRACT WITH
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS OR
HER DESIGNEE TO CERTIFY GRANT INVOICES FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE
MEDICAL FACILITY TURN-KEY WATER EFFICIENCY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica currently imports approximately ninety
percent of the water it provides to its residential, commercial and institutional water
customers from the Sacramento Bay-Delta and Colorado River; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica adopted the Sustainable City Plan, which
recommends a twenty percent water demand reduction by the year 2010 through water
conservation programs, such as the Comprehensive Medical Facility Turn-Key Water
Efficiency Program; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government and State of California have allocated
considerable funding through Urban Water Conservation Program grants (Proposition
13, December 2002) to agencies for programs that conserve water throughout the
state; and
WHEREAS, such grants provide funding to carry out activities that conserve
water,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby authorizes the
City Manager or hislhjer _..... to $ubmit, tPr and on behalf of the City of.....
Monica, an application for a Urban Water Conservation Program grant from the
California Department of Water Resources in the amount not to exceed $126,300 for
the design and implementation of the Comprehensive Medical Facility Turn-Key Water
Efficiency Program,
SECTION 2, The City Manager or his/her designee is hereby authorized to
negotiate and execute a grant contract and any amendments, and is further designated
to certify grant invoices on behalf of the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby agrees and
further does authorize the aforementioned representative or his/her designee to certify
that the City will comply with all applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements
related to any state grants received.
SECTION 4 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
henceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
