A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA CONFIRMING THE REPORT OF THE
CODE COMPLIANCE SECTION AND AUTHORIZING A
LIEN AND SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF DANGEROUS
BUILDING ABATEMENT COSTS UPON CERTAIN
PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY
WHEREAS, on June 23, 2003, the Code Compliance Section "red-tagged" the
property at 2502 ih Street, Santa Monica, California ("subject property") and declared it a
dangerous building;
WHEREAS, on July 2,2003, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Bernard Kamins
issued an Administrative Warrant for Inspection and Abatement of the subject property;
WHEREAS, on July 16, 2003, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Bernard Kamins
issued a 3-Day Extension to Administrative Warrant for Inspection and Abatement of the
subject property;
WHEREAS, pursuant to the authorization of Section 8,88,010 of the Santa Monica
Municipal Code and the Administrative Warrant for Inspection and Abatement of July 2,

incurred costs in undertaking this abatement;

WHEREAS, the Code Compliance Section caused to be served upon the owners of
the subject property, a Notice of Cost of Abatement setting forth the cost of the abatement
and the date, time, and place of hearing on this Resolution;
WHEREAS, the Code Compliance Section, concurrently with the submittal of this
resolution, has submitted the report regarding the abatement ofthe dangerous building on
the subject property; and
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Santa Monica has held a public hearing
regarding the costs for the abatement of the dangerous building on the subject property,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1, The report of the Director of Environmental and Public Works
Management regarding the public nuisance at 2502 ih Street, Santa Monica, California is
confirmed and that the reasonable cost of abatement of the dangerous building at the
subject property is $17,654.46.
SECTION 2, The City of Santa Monica is entitled to and hereby attaches a special
assessment lien upon the described property upon recordation in the Office of the County
Recorder of the County of Los Angeles,
SECTION 3, Such lien shall constitute a special assessment against the property
and shall be collectible at the same time and in the same manner as secured property
taxes are collected and shall be subject to the same penalties, priorities, and procedures in

the case of delinquency,
SECTION 4, The City Clerk shall transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the
Los Angeles County Auditor/Controller to place a special assessment against the subject
property,
SECTION 5, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
