City Council Meeting 6-17-03 Santa Monica, California
RESOLUTION NUMBER 9858 (CCS)
(City Council Series)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING VARIOUS FEES IN
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RECORDS
AND ELECTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Santa Monica to charge the full costs of
services provided by City staff when such services benefit individual users rather than
members of the community as a whale; and
WHEREAS, in many instances the full costs of services to particular indiv~duals are
not being paid by those individuals because fees do not reflect full costs; and
WI-IEREAS, Ordinance Number 1754 (CCS) (the "Ordinance"), adopted July 12,
1994, governs the setting of the amount of user fees or fees for services provided to or for
the benefit of particular individuals rather than the general public; and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance allows such user fees or fees for services to be set by
ordinance, by a resolution of the City Council or by any other means authorize~+ by law; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to set permit and user fees charged by the Police
Department, Fire Department, and Records and Election Services Department by this
Resolution in order to preserve public resources for the benefit of the community as a
whole and avoid diverting these res~urces to the benefit of individuals,
1

DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
