R-9805 Attachment A City Council Meeting: October 22,2002 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 9805 (CCS) CITY COUNCIL SERIES A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ENDORSING PROPOSITION 46 - THE HOUSING AND EMERGENCY SHELTER TRUST FUND ACT OF 2002 WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica currently has the authority and duty to respond to local needs and to support the allocation of Statewide resources to best meet the needs of the community; and WHEREAS, the current crises of affordable housing and homelessness are urgent matters of both local and statewide concern, demanding a significant investment of public resources; WHEREAS, Proposition 46 will significantly increase the amount of State funding available for affordable housing and emergency shelters, creating opportunities for the City of Santa Monica to leverage additional funding to assist with affordable housing and emergency shelters; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City of Santa of Santa Monica endorses Proposition 46, the Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2002, which will establish $2,1 billion in general obligation bonds to fund housing and emergency shelter programs. SECTION 2, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
