A RESOLUTION OF THE PARKING AUTHORITY OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AND THE REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING
THE PARKING AUTHORITY TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR
ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF PUBLIC
PARKING FACILITIES IN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA
AND MAKING AN AWARD OF THE SAME.
WHEREAS, it 1S in the public interest to expeditiously
proceed with the carrY1ng out of the Downtown Redevelopment Project;
and
WHEREAS, it lS necessary to prepare deslgn and work1ng
drawings for the constructlon of public parking facilities with1n
the Downtown Redevelopment ProJect prior to the issuance of
lease/revenue bonds as authorlzed by the voters; and
WHEREAS, the Park1ng Authority has suff~cient funds to
provlde for sa~d designs and working drawings, WhlCh expenditures
shall be reimbursable from tax 1ncrement monles which shall be
ava1lable to the Redevelopment Agency; and
WHEREAS, the Park1ng Authorlty has rece1ved a proposal
for the development of design and working drawlngs for the publlC
parklng facilities.
Nm.,r, THEREFORE I THE PARKING AUTHORITY AND THE REDEVELOPHENT
AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. The Redevelopment Agency hereby requests and
authorlZes the Parking Authority to duly award a contract for the
preparation of des1gn and working draw1ngs for publ1C parking
facilities to be located w1thin the Downtown Redevelopment Project
area, pursuant to sa1d Redevelopment Plan and Coastal Act permit.
SECTION 2. The Park1ng Authorlty agrees to let a contract
for the preparation of deslgn and work1ng draw1ngs for said public
park1ng facilities.
SECTION 3. Frank o. Gehry and Assoclates, Incorporated,
have submitted a proposal for architectural serV1ces to the Park1ng
Author1ty for an amount of $420,000.
SECTION 4. A contract is hereby awarded to Frank O. Gehry
and ASsoc1ates, Incor~orated, for the preparation of des1gn and
working drawings and related serV1ces as more fully descr1bed 1n
the "Agreement Between Owner and Architect," attached, and
incorporated hereln by reference.
SECTION 5. The Secretary of the Parking Author1ty shall
cert1fy to the adoption of this resolution, and thenceforth and
thereafter the same shall be 1n full force and effect.
SECTION 6. The Secretary of the Redevelopment Agency
shall cert1fy to the adopt1on of th1S reso1utlon, and thenceforth
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
