RESOLUTION NO. 337 (R.A.S.)
A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA, CALIFORNIA! AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN AMENDATORY
APPLICATION FOR LOAN AND GRANT FOR PROJECT NO. CALIF, R-37/44
WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the public interest that the Redevelop-
ment Agency of the City of Santa Monica, California, avail itself of the
financial assistance provided by Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended
to carry out the redevelopment project described as Ocean Park Project 1(a)
and 1(b) - Calif. R-37/55, and bounded generally by Ocean Park Boulevard on
the North, the city limits on the South, Neilson Way on the East and Barnard
Way on the West, hereinafter referred to as the "Project"; and,
WHEREAS, it is recognized that the Federal contract for such financial
assistance pursuant to said Title I will impose certain obligations and
responsibilities upon the Local Public Agency and will require among other
things (1) the provision of local grants-in-aid; (2) a feasible method for the
relocation of families displaced from the project area; and (3) other local
obligations and responsibilities in connection with the undertaking and carry-
ing out of urban renewal and redevelopment projects; and,
WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the regulations
of the Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuating that Title,
provide that no person shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin,
be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected
to discrimination in the undertakinq and carrying out of urban renewal and
redevelopment projects assisted under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949. as
amended; and,
WHEREAS, the objectives of the Redevelopment Plan cannot be achieved
through rehabilitation of the Project area:
NO~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA:
1. That the United States of America and the Secretary of the Department
of Housing and Urban Development be, and they hereby are, assured of full
compliance by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Monica, California,
with regulations of the Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuat-
ing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and of the provision of matching
local grants-in-aid in the amount of $800,000.
2. That an application on behalf of the Redevelopment Agency of the
City of Santa Monica, California, for an increase in the project capital
grant in the amount of $800,000 for undertaking and financing the Project is
hereby approved, and that the Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
execute and to file such application with the Department of Housing and Urban
Development, to provide such additional information and to furnish such docu-
ments as may be required in behalf of said Agency, and to act as the authorized
correspondent of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Monica, Cali-
fornia.
