RESOLUTION OF THE PARKING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SIXTY-SEVEN UNITS
OF AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING UTILIZING THE AIR-RIGHTS OVER
PARKING LOT FOUR.
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this locality to preserve and
expand the supply of housing affordable to low income senior
citizens; and
WHEREAS, nearly 2,300 households are on waiting lists for
uni ts in affordable senior developments in the City and over
2,200 senior households are on the santa Monica section 8 rental
assistance program waiting list; and
WHEREAS, the Parking Authority owns land located at 1116-46
Fourth street, within the City of Santa Monica, which is commonly
known as Parking Lot Four; and
WHEREAS, the city has determined that the site located at
1116-46 Fourth Street is an appropriate location for an
affordable senior housing project because of its proximity to
public transportation routes, shopping centers and social
services; and
WHEREAS, U . S . Department of Housing and Urban Development
Section 202 Loan Program funds are available for senior housing
projects.
