SUBJECT: Palisades Park Walkway Resurfacing -- Award of Contract
Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council award a contract for the Palisades
Park Walkway Resurfacing to A.M. Construction, Inc. in the amount of $16,772.
Background
The existing asphalt walks in Palisades Park north of Montana Street are
becoming hazardous due to pot holes, sinking, and other deterioration. These
walks have been patched on numerous occasions, and now need to be resurfaced.
The settling of the walks has also caused a drainage problem. The resurfacing
would restore a smooth walkway, free of hazards, and would eliminate water
that presently collects and stands in the center of the walks.
Bids for the subject project were opened in the City Council Chambers after
3:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 1979, and read publicly by the Assistant City Clerk.
Plans and specifications were issued to six contractors. Three bids were
received as follows:
A.M. Construction, Inc . ................... $ 16,772
Universal Asphalt Co., Inc . ............... 17,520
Calex Paving Co . .......................... 17,808
City Engineer's Estimate .................. 18,600
Funds in the amount of $21,000 are available for this project in Work Order
No. 79230 -000. C ® sI
