SUBJECT: Approval of Classification Specifications and Adoption
of a Salary Resolution
Introduction
This report requests approval of anew classification specification
for Domestic Violence Counselor and revised classification specifica-
tions for Administrative Assistant and Departmental Administrative
Analyst. A salary resolution establishing the salary for Domestic
Violence Counselor has been prepared for adoption.
Back round - Domestic Violence Counselor
This position was created pursuant to the recommendations of the Crime
Task Force. Personnel staff interviewed Police personnel, surveyed
other cities and met with local groups engaged in assisting victims of
domestic violence in order to appropriately classify the position.
The attached specification will be reviewed by the Personnel Board at
their meeting on April 12 and their comments, if any, will be forwarded
to Council on the 13th. The salary for this position is equivalent to
that of Youth Services Counselor, with an E-Step salary of $1816/month
($1943 with PERS.
Background - Administrative Assistant and Departmental Administrative
Analyst
In keeping with the City's intention to provide career ladders in an
effort to reduce turnover, classification revisions are proposed to
establish an analyst series. The Administrative Assistant classifica-
tion, formerly unique to a single position in the City Manager's
office, has been retitled Senior Administrative Analyst and the duties
have been broadened to provide for use in a variety of programs and
Departments. Departmental Administrative Analyst has been retitled
Administrative Analyst. The duties of the current DAA specification
appropriately describe the mid-level professional position in the
series. The entry level position in this series will be proposed
