Council Meeting: February 22, 2011 Santa Monica, California
CITY CLERK'S OFFICE -MEMORANDUM
To: City Council
From: Mayor Bloom
Date: February 22, 2011
13-D: Request of Mayor Bloom supporting Pam O'Connor as the Westside Cities
representative for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)
Regional Council, and finding no other Santa Monica Councilmember's interest in
submitting their name to be elected by the Westside Cities Council of
Governments (WCCOG) for that position.
In accordance with SCAG rules, an election must be held to nominate the Westside.
Cities representative for the SCAG Regional Council
Pam O'Connor has represented the Westside Cities for a number of years and is
unchallenged for the Regional Council seat. There is insufficient time for WCCOG
election prior to the May 5, 2011 SCAG deadline. The WCCOG meets on March 17,
2011 and then May 19, 2011. An election is not necessary if there are no other
Councilmembers from the Westside Cities, including Santa Monica, interested in putting
their name forward for election.
Pam O'Connor is currently in line to be appointed President of SCAG on May 5, 2011
