SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Brake Drums, Bid Number 2134
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous brake drums for the Transportation Department at
specified unit prices, including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
AUgust 27 and 28, 1987) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous
brake drums in accordance with city specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on september 15, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance wi th ci ty Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Four proposals were received as follows:

Hausman Bus Sales & Parts Company
The bid consists of a variety of Reyco front and rear brake drums
for GMC, AMG and Flxible transit coaches. Staff has evaluated
the low bid by Associated Brake supply and it does meet
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be
expensed against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority in
the Transportation Department.
For the period July 1, 1988,
through September 30, 1989, appropriation authority will be as
set forth in the FY 1988/89 Transportation Department bUdget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2134 be made to
Associated Brake Supply at specified unit prices, including tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
